NATIVE GRASS WORKSHOP
There are about 1000 native grass species in Australia. They are well adapted to the harsh and varying climate & low-fertility soils, and play an important part in maintaining ecosystem health. Would you like to know what native grasses you have on your property and how to manage them for biodiversity and stock productivity? Or would you simply like to brush up on your native grass ID skills?
Join Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups and landholder Rob Szabo with special guest and native grass expert Dr. Meredith Mitchell for a workshop on native grass identification & the benefits and best practice management of native grasses on your property.
This workshop will help you:
- identify various native grass species
- learn the biodiversity & stock productivity value of native grasses
- gain practical native grass management advice from an expert
WHEN: Saturday, 2nd December, 2023.
9:30am-2:30pm. Please arrive at 9:15am for registration.
WHERE: Osbornes Flat Hall and farm visit in the afternoon
Morning Tea & lunch will be provided
Physical Fitness level required: EASY ( Sitting for 2 hours or more. Walking/standing outdoors for a period of 2 hours required)
Biosecurity: There will be a biosecurity foot-wash on site. We ask all attendees to please make sure their footwear and vehicles are free from any weed seeds and pathogens before entering the property.
WHAT TO BRING
- Wear sturdy, enclosed shoes, long pants, sun protection ( hat and sunscreen), and a raincoat or umbrella in case of showers
- Water bottle
- Bring a chair to sit on if you require one
- If you are unwell on the day please remain at home in consideration of the health of others

While we are able to cater for gluten-free and vegetarian options at our events it is difficult to cater for every dietary requirement due to our limited funding. If you have dietary requirements outside of these two options please bring your own food and drink.
