Native Seed Accreditation Workshop
Description
Western Australia's native seed sector is growing, and opportunities to work in this space are continuing to open. With support from the state's restoration sector, the Revegetation Industry Association of Western Australia has developed the RIAWA Native Seed Accreditation System and associated training. The system aims to improve the quality assurance and sustainability of seed collection and supply in Western Australia. The standards and training establish appropriate practices regarding seed harvesting, processing, storage, marketing and supply, payment of contractors and staff, seed orcharding, and collector training.
We are excited to announce that we are offering an in-person opportunity at Curtin University to participate in a whole-day native seed accreditation workshop in collaboration with RIAWA and the Native Seed Technology and Innovation Hub, supported by LotteryWest and Curtin University. During this training, you will learn about how to collect, process and test native seeds using best-practice principles led by Matt Wood, RIAWA committee member and Business Manager at Natural Area, and Dr Simone Pedrini, Senior Lecturer in restoration ecology at Curtin University.
To keep this workshop as tangible as possible, places will be very limited. Please express your interest in participating in this training opportunity by the 7th of November!
We hope to see you there!
