Natural Dying & Printing (Resourceful Workshops Series)

Join special guest artist and skill sharer, Coralee, for this workshop in natural dying and printing.
Participants will learn:Â
- What is natural dyeing AKA eco-dyeing? And why is it important?
- What fibers are best for natural dyeing and how to prepare them
- Which local plants and food waste is best and their colour potentials
- What is pre-mordanting?
- Creative techniques with fabric bundling
- How to care for your naturally dyed and printed fabrics
Who is this workshop suitable for?
- Suitable for adult participants and young people aged 14 years and older.
This is an inclusive and supportive workshop, no experience needed.Â
What is provided?
- Plant material and food waste
- Equipment required for bundling and heating
- Light refreshments
BYOÂ fabricÂ
- Please bring along natural white fabric -silk, wool, cotton, linen etc. Prewashed or second hand is best.Â
- Animal derived fabrics like silk and wool deliver better results.
Â
Other things to note:
- Wear clothes to get messy or bring an apron
- You can bring plants from your garden to experiment with
- Morning tea & snacks provided - please advise dietary restrictions when registering
- Participant numbers are limited to 10.Â
This workshop is delivered by Coralee from Inspired by Nature, as part of our series of Resourceful Workshops at the Neighbourhood Centre & Warrane Community Garden.
