Event description

Join Damien Norris at CERES for an informative and immersive evening exploring the rich story of natural movement, wild parcours, and an emerging movement called human rewilding.
This FREE Presentation will be informative and energetic, blending theoretical insights with hands-on experience.

The first half will feature an engaging presentation on the story of natural movement, tracing its origins from Georges Hébert's Méthode Naturelle to modern-day practices of wild parcours. There will also be a discussion on Damien’s PhD and the thesis of whether or not you can rewild a human!
You will gain an insight into how movement (and not solely exercise) is a vital bridge between the human body and its innate connection with, to, and within the ecosystems that surround it.

The second half will offer some nutritious movement "snacks" to wet your appetite for more. The session will pivot to explore fundamental natural movements. It will be playful, fun and informative, and will demonstrate how natural movement can be integrated into daily life. No special equipment or prior experience needed—bring comfortable clothing and an open mind.

The evening is perfect for movement enthusiasts, nature lovers, parents, and anyone interested in deepening an understanding of the movement needs of their body in partnership with nature.

This presentation draws from Damien's PhD research and builds upon the ideas and insights presented at TEDxPerth 2018: It's time to re-wild your body | Damien Norris | TEDxPerth

About the Speaker

Damien Norris brings a unique blend of academic rigor and practical experience to the field of natural movement. With a PhD focused on human movement and human rewilding, he has dedicated the last decade to studying how movement shapes our connection to land, ourselves, and our environment.
His research has taken him across the globe, training with parkour and natural movement communities in Europe, North and South America, and India.

As a practitioner and researcher in human rewilding, Damien explores how modern humans can reconnect with their evolutionary movement heritage and thrive in an urban world. His approach combines insights from eco-philosophy, biology, and kinesthetics and more to create accessible ways for people to rediscover their natural movement potential.
