NATURAL MOVEMENT WORKSHOP

Come join us on the 21st of August at False Grip and immerse yourself in the practice of Natural Movement!

WHAT IS NATURAL MOVEMENT?

Natural Movement is a system of fitness that in essence honours the design of the human body and encourages an evolutionary approach to fitness and movement. It is original human movement in the sense that we, as a species, have practiced Natural Movement in order to survive and thrive. We practice movements and skills such as:
Running
Jumping
Climbing
Vaulting
Lifting and Carrying
Crawling
Throwing and Catching
Grappling
Balancing
And many more

WHY NATURAL MOVEMENT?

In the modern world we have lost many basic, fundamental skills, among them the ability to move efficiently and effectively. Natural Movement helps us to return to these skills and use them in fun, challenging and practical contexts.Whilst many systems of fitness build health and strength, Natural Movement is specifically focused around developing practically applicable skills that create greater confidence and strength in movement.

WHAT THE WORKSHOP WILL CONSIST OF

Over the course of the 4 hours we will cover specific skills, most notably:

Ground Movement (Get-Ups, Ground Sitting and Crawling)
Jumping and Landing
Running and Sprinting
Lifting and Carrying
Throwing and Catching

There will also be a lot of integration of challenges and play to help solidify the learning process and allow us to step into a more instinctual, playful and intuitive approach to movement.

We will play games that focus around developing more intangible elements of the practice such as spatial awareness and balance as well communication and collaboration. The general structure of how skills will be taught so as to best honour the learning process as well as make it fun is as follows:

- Demonstration and practice of the skill (i.e Barefoot running technique)
Progressions of the skill (i.e. Balance running, backwards running etc.)

- Challenges and games that help us to integrate the skill (i.e. Tag, Frisbee etc.)There will also be some philosophical elements of the practice covered such as mindset, key elements of progressing skills, applying the practice and more.

ABOUT ME (JAKE)

At the age of 14 I started to become very interested in health, specifically how to use movement and lifestyle to become healthier, more energised and ultimately more free in my mind and body. At the time I had an auto-immune condition which drive me to do much searching as to how I could possibly heal myself.

In my search I came across MovNat or Natural Movement as it is otherwise known. Upon coming across Natural Movement, the concept resonated with me more than anything I had found up until that point and I started practicing. The practice of Natural Movement alongside other lifestyle changes led to me overcoming my auto-immune condition and becoming the strongest, healthiest and happiest I had ever been within just one year of implementing the practice.

I continued to find immense benefit, not just in ‘healing’ but also in cultivating strength, confidence and freedom both physically and mentally. From there I found a mentor and coach who helped me progress in my own practice as well as inspired me to start coaching myself.

When I was 18 I became a MovNat level 2 Certified Trainer, started my business Move Wild and started coaching people on the very system that had transformed my health and life.My aim is to help people to experience greater freedom in their lives.

Natural Movement has been an incredible tool in my own life to help me achieve a sense of freedom and that is why I now share it with others
