Event description

David Piggott will be presenting a talk about a more holistically and ecologically better ways to conduct pesky critter management. Come along to learn and collaborate with this expert on healthier options to pest management in our community and beyond.


"I have had, since childhood, a pro-active interest in Ecology, Biology and Entomology, with ongoing involvement by way of work on Sheep, Mussel Aquaculture, Dairy, Chicken, Cattle, Horticultural farms and a Local Authority and a pro-active involvement in  environmental pest management for the past 35 years.
I have provided education and awareness talks, projects and field excursions to S.E. Queensland schools and community groups.


I have during this time guest spoken and exhibited at 3 Body Health and Harmony exhibitions and 5 times at Brisbane Organic Growers fair, guest spoken at an International Pacific Oceanic Pest Managers Association conference on mosquito management.
I have have appeared 12 times on Channel 10's, now ended, "Totally Wild" childrens show. 
I specialized in mosquito management, practice and product, providing environmentally sustainable and integrated management options.


I have provided consultancy advice, training,and assistance to industry, conducting product field trials for companies such as DowElanco, Agrevo and Novartis to assist them in gaining Australian certification for new biological agents.


I provided mosquito management and training programs to international NGO’s, Local Authorities, Pest Control Professionals, Resorts, Mining Operations and Property Developers.
My aim is to provide viable and sustainable community capable solutions that reduce the use of unnecessary toxic pesticides in the community and environment and to assist in the reduction of adverse effect mosquito's and other "Pests" have in and on communities.
I have concentrated and focused on researching and developing new low cost methods and designs to combine and support integrated mosquito and pest management packages that are purpose designed for low to medium tech community based operation and application.
I have designed two new mosquito trapping systems and discovered, tested and successfully proven a new simple and cheap method for the self production of Bio-pesticides with the assistance of QLD Uni, QLD DPI and NSW Uni and the involvement of Dhaka University in Bangladesh and Pest Control India (PCIL)."
