Join Sydney artist Rachel Carroll at Mary MacKillop Place for a relaxed morning of creativity, nature and watercolour.

Surrounded by historic buildings, gardens and the peaceful grounds of Mary MacKillop Place, you’ll explore the art of watercolour landscape painting while taking inspiration from the beauty around you.

Inspired by the lives and values of Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, this workshop encourages you to pause, look closely and discover the natural world through creativity.

What to expect

• Explore watercolour techniques including washes, layering and wet-on-wet blending

• Create a landscape inspired by the gardens and historic surrounds of Mary MacKillop Place

• Weather permitting, step outside to sketch and gather inspiration

• Bring your own landscape photograph or choose from a selection provided by Rachel

• Enjoy guidance and encouragement throughout the session

• Take home your artwork - whether it’s a completed piece or the beginnings of something you’d like to continue developing

No experience is necessary. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners through to more experienced artists, with all materials provided, including professional 200gsm cold-pressed watercolour paper.

Morning tea is included, giving you time to enjoy a cuppa, meet others and take a relaxed break from the everyday.

The workshop begins shortly after the 10am Sunday Mass, so you’re welcome to start your morning in the beautiful Chapel before joining Rachel at the workshop.
