Join us in celebrating Matariki, the Māori New Year! On the 20th of June, the cluster of stars, Mānawatia a Matariki, reappears. Matariki is a time to come together and connect with your whānau and home.

This year, to celebrate, we are hosting a series of night tours at our local reserves. Our tour will begin with the story of Matariki and the significance of the stars in Māori culture and our wildlife. Following this, we will explore the fascinating nocturnal creatures in our reserves, including insects, bugs, aquatic life such as fish and eels, and other night-dwelling animals. These creatures, often unseen during the day, come alive at night.

This 1-hour guided night tour at our local park concludes with a cup of hot chocolate to warm up. Come and experience the magic of Matariki and our reserves with us!

- MEETING PLACE = 16 Pierce Road, Milford
- Please wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes suitable for walking in the dark.
- Red torches will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.
- Remember to respect the environment and do not disturb the creatures.
