Description

Join us at the Port Environment Centre as we explore the fascinating world of invertebrates and discover how these often-overlooked creatures help our gardens and ecosystems thrive. Through creativity, conversation and hands-on learning, discover how we can support beneficial bugs and create healthier, more biodiverse gardens.

Here’s what’s happening:

4:00 – 5:00 pm | Make Your Own Native Bee Hotel

Give native bees a helping hand by creating your own bee hotel to take home! Learn about the fascinating world of native bees, why they are important pollinators and how we can provide safe spaces for them to shelter and nest.

5:00 – 6:00 pm | Community Eco Discussion

Not all bugs are bad! Join us for a relaxed community conversation about the impacts of chemical pesticides and how we can rethink our approach to garden pests. Explore how beneficial insects and other invertebrates help keep ecosystems in balance, and discuss practical, nature-friendly alternatives to chemical pest control.
