Nature Printing workshops with Rhyll Plant
Event description
Join Rhyll Plant to explore the potential of nature printing over two workshops, each a full day. Nature printing involves inking materials such as feathers from the natural world and pressing them to paper to preserve their detail as unique artworks.
In these workshops you will learn how to create your own individual images from natural specimens using both hand pressure and the magic of the printing press.
The first workshop will introduce nature printing, and the second will enable you to build your skills, explore layering, use stencils and learn how to prepare and use other related materials. Workshop 2 is designed for those who have done Workshop 1 or another nature printing workshop with Rhyll. You can book one or both workshops and all levels of art experience are welcomed, including complete beginners.Â
Rhyll Plant says: ‘Of the endless and varied inspiration nature provides for artists, I delight in exploring a creative process that allows me to make prints of fine detail directly from selected plants and feathers’.
Materials provided will include suitable grasses and feathers, various printing papers and water based ink that allows for a solvent free atmosphere in which to work. Both workshops will be held in the lovingly restored railway station that is the Newstead Arts Hub
