Event description

Introducing UGs first nature strip workshop!

We are very lucky to be joined by Phillipina (Pip) Bell who is a second year Ph.D. student at the University of Melbourne. She is currently investigating the effectiveness of nature strips for insect and bird conservation by planting habitat gardens on nature strips in Melbourne’s north. She hopes to find ecological value in these novel green spaces, and encourage others to take advantage of urban spaces for conservation!

Agenda for this event:

- Meet at Ferndale Park (outside Scout Hall), Glen Iris

- Introduction to Urban Guerrillas

- Talk by Pip: Introduction to nature strips - why are they important?

- Walk to multiple nature strips, chat about what is planted and how to prepare the ground

- Walk back to Ferndale park

- Q&A

Event runs from 10am-12pm
