NATURE: The Call for a Reconciliation - AlterCOP 30 Day 3

Co-founded by The Matcha Initiative and The Transmutation Principle, AlterCOP Summits aim to keep corporate and the public informed of COP proceedings and outcomes, facilitate discourse and knowledge learning on corporate sustainability in a localised context, foster collaboration among various actors (professionals, academics, youth, NPOs, community groups, and policymakers) and inspire action.

As Australia prepares to potentially host COP31, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to open up climate dialogue to all and show that local actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change are already happening across different communities. 

Running alongside the United Nations (UN) COP30 agenda, the four-day event will foster grassroots ownership of global climate goals while amplifying local and regional engagement across Australia.

Day 3 explores the intersection of biodiversity and the economy, focusing on the following key areas:

• Nature as Economic Infrastructure – How healthy ecosystems support resilient economies.

• Regenerative Models – Shifting from extractive to circular and nature-positive practices.

• Community Leadership – Empowering local and citizen-led action to restore balance with nature.

• New Measures of Prosperity – Valuing wellbeing, biodiversity, and natural capital.

• First Nations Knowledge – Honouring Indigenous stewardship for long-term sustainability.

Join us for a special screening of NATURE: The Call for a Reconciliation – a stunning feature documentary film by acclaimed filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

NATURE is a powerful film for this moment. Through stunning visuals and intimate storytelling, Arthus-Bertrand explores the values that underpin ecological and human resilience: cooperation, adaptability, and respect for life’s natural rhythms. 

As Arthus-Bertrand shares, “I’m very pleased that our film is being screened in Australia — especially in support of People For Nature and as part of AlterCOP 30, a remarkable initiative whose work I deeply admire.”

This event includes networking drinks in partnership with Alliance Française de Brisbane, followed by a Q&A curated by François Detaille — a Nature Fine Art French photographer, multiple European Photography Awards winner who moved to Australia in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the beauty of its nature. Some of his art will be displayed during AlterCOP 30.

This evening will celebrate citizen-led initiatives—from habitat restoration and local advocacy to grassroots science. It will also explore how individual and collective action can help reshape systems and shift mindsets.
