Guided Nature Walk at Boyd Park and the Urban Forest Reserve
Event description
Join us on this special nature walk to discover the amazing flora, fauna and history of Boyd Park and the Urban Forest Reserve.
To celebrate Biodiversity Month (September), Stonnington and Glen Eira Councils are joining forces to explore two cherished and interconnected green spaces: Boyd Park in Murrumbeena, and the Urban Forest Reserve in Malvern East.
Originally areas that formed part of Melbourne's nineteenth century Outer Circle Railway, these two reserves have today been transformed into thriving green spaces that form an important urban biodiversity corridor supporting local wildlife.
On the walk, you'll hear from ecologist Dr Jacinta Humphrey about the ecological significance of these urban green spaces. You'll also hear from members of three local environmental community groups (Flora and Fauna of Boyd Park, Friends of the Urban Forest and the Glen Eira Climate Action Network) about their activities caring for, preserving and documenting wildlife and plants in both reserves.
Walking route and meeting point:
The walk will begin at the Boyd Park entrance on the corner of Neerim Rd and Riley St in Murrumbeena, and conclude at the Urban Forest Reserve entrance on Waverley Rd in Malvern East.
What to bring:
