Navigating the Workplace as a Woman

Conversations with our young women starting out in tech

We operate in an unusual world that has seen workplaces and normal operating models change from the norms that we have been used to. Navigating the “new normal” can be challenging for both new starters in the tech industry settling in, as well as for managers and teams helping their junior staff find their pathways and build networks in often remote or disrupted working environments.

In this interactive, in person session we will be talking with some of ANZ’s women in tech whose careers have been formed throughout these disruptive years, we will hear about their journeys and expectations versus the realities and how they have faced and adapted to the challenges. Supporting them we will also hear from more senior team members at ANZ on how they are helping support people to strengthen their resilience and protect their wellbeing through change.

Our events are open and inclusive to all genders, females, males, nonbinary, and allies! So bring your friends and colleagues for a great night of learning and networking with the community.

Speakers/Panelists:

Meet our speakers from ANZ

Renay Yang - Associate Product Owner, Personal and Funds Portfolio

Renay started at ANZ as a teller in the branch during university, since then she has completed the ANZ Graduate Programme and has held a number of roles including Risk Management, Business Design and now Product Ownership. Renay is currently looking after a project to allow ANZ staff members to better assist a customer to on-board with ANZ.

Reilly Sharpe - Technology Graduate

Reilly is currently in the Design Centre of Excellence. She started at ANZ in 2020 as a TupuToa Intern and then continued onto the Graduate programme. Reilly is a key driver of initiatives in our Māori and Pacifica in Technology ropu.

Lauren Halka - Technology Graduate

Lauren is a Technology Graduate and is currently in the Design Team. She came through the Summer of Tech Programme in 2019 and then continued onto the Technology Graduate Programme in 2021.

Megan Tapsell - Head of Pacific Technology

Megan has 3 key functions at ANZ. Her day job is Head of Technology for the Pacific and consists of managing resources across 10 different countries. She also represents ANZ as Chair of the AIFNZ (Artificial Intelligence Forum NZ) as they look to increase education and participation in the Aotearoa AI industry. Underpinning both of these, Megan leads a Māori and Pacifica rōpu here in ANZ which focuses on inter-twining a Te Ao Māori and Pasifika view into the way ANZ looks to deliver their Technology. Megan's vision and motivation is to ensure increased Māori engagement both in the corporate technology industry and in the services they produce.

Angela Batistich - Tech Area Lead, Wholesale Technologies

Angela has an extensive career in the Financial Services Industry as a Technology Leader with a dynamic and constantly evolving approach. She is currently Tech Area Lead - Wholesale Technologies at ANZ and also a passionate supporter of Women in Technology, actively involved in various mentoring programmes and leadership forums. For Angela, being a Tech Leader is not just about the Technology, it’s about the people and the experiences and opportunities it provides to be vehicles of change beyond and above where we are today and into the future.

Marija Potter - Head of Workforce, ANZ Tech and Industry/Organisational Psychologist

Marija is an Industrial/Organisational Psychologist and the Head of Workforce for Technology at ANZ. Leveraging behavioural science in the workplace, Marija is responsible for ensuring ANZ has the right people, in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills for today and the future. Marija is responsible for driving transformational change and unlocking human potential across all layers of the organisation. Marija has worked in the Technology sector for over a decade.
