    This event has passed Register

    Event description

Join NAWIC Wellington members and NZIOB Members to see and hear about the design and construction of the new Snow Leopard Enclosure with Naylor Love at Wellington Zoo

    ABOUT THE PROJECT
Opened in April, the new Snow Leopard Habitat has been designed to ensure that Asha and Manju live their best possible lives here at Wellington Zoo and that we can provide and support best practice animal care and welfare.

The habitat emulates the Snow Leopard’s natural environment, encouraging the animals to display natural behaviours. The steep, rocky terrain will provide physical exercise by encouraging jumping and climbing. The habitat offers plenty of space for Asha and Manju to patrol, including trees for climbing and scratching. The design of the habitat allows the Snow Leopards to feel camouflaged and rest whilst still being visible to visitors.

Naylor Love are thrilled to have been able to continue their relationship with Wellington Zoo, having been involved in the Zoo's redevelopment since 2007 with the construction of the Wild Theatre. They believe the success of the Snow Leopards enclosure is not just in terms of functionality and design, but in their ability to continue building places for the community to enjoy and appreciate the amazing rehabilitation and conservation work that the Zoo do.
