NAWIC Queenstown Skyline Site Visit - Naylor Love

Event description

Queenstown NAWIC would like to invite you to attend our next site visit which is up the Skyline Queenstown Gondola at the top terminal. This site visit is for Stage One of the Project Skyline rebuild which is being built by Naylor Love. This visit will be hosted by NAWIC and Naylor Love.

Phase 1 of Project Skyline kicked off in 2019 with a large Health and Safety exercise in the Gondola corridor, removing over 2,800 wilding conifers from beside the Gondola line (this is an invasive tree species here in New Zealand). Skyline also carried out a large rock excavation at the Skyline Base Terminal to enable road access to the new multi-storey car park, set the new Gondola tower foundations in the ground and laid the foundations for the new Top Gondola Terminal - all in preparation for Phase 2: The Big Changeover.

Phase 2 - The big Changover is happening in April. This will mark the end of an era with the iconic 4 seater Gondola, making way for the new 10 seater Gondola complete with new Top and Base Terminal buildings.

Date and Time: Wednesday 22nd March, meet at the bottom of the Skyline Gondola for 4:15pm to allow for travel time up the Gondola.

Venue: Skyline Gondola Queenstown, 53 Brecon Street. We will meet at the bottom terminal building and get the Gondola up to the top terminal.

Parking: No parking on Brecon street or at Skyline. Please find parking elsewhere in town.

Cost: $10+GST for all. It will be no cost to take the Gondola up and down, the Gondola ride is being sponsored by Skyline.

PPE Requirements: This site requires FULL PPE which is hardhat, safety glasses, high viz and steel cap footwear. If you're struggling to find any of the PPE requirements please email the Queenstown team at chairqtlakes@nawic.org.nz, we can't guarantee we can help with all PPE requirements such as footwear but we may be able to supply some extra high viz, hats and glasses if asked beforehand.

After the site visit we will be heading inside for some drinks and nibbles and then catching the Gondola back down.

This event is open to all, members and non members.

Please note: NAWIC is a voluntary organisation, committed to its obligations as a PBU under the Health and Safety at work Act 2015. Amongst other things, this requires NAWIC to take all practicable steps to eliminate, isolate and minimize hazards that our event attendees are exposed to. Health and Safety is a shared responsibility.
