NAWIC Wairarapa - Urlar winery
Event description
Join NAWIC Wairarapa members for a site tour and wine tasting at Urlar Vineyard
The NAWIC Wairarapa Chapter are excited to host at Urlar Vineyard to experience their new Cellar Door, which opened in 2024.
The architects for the building were DLA from Wellington and the construction team were Rigg Zschokke from Masterton.
Come along to here from the project team about the vision, design and construction journey of the new building.
The cellar door connects to the lake with a cantilevered deck and utilises the vineyards beyond for an enriched vista and tasting experience. The exterior form is expressed internally and triangular skylights bring sunlight deep into the spaces.
The existing modest winery building is repurposed as a barrel hall, and surrounded by the new winery production & ancillary spaces provides a four-fold increase in space. A central second level production office and laboratory provide overview and easy access to the fermentation halls. New process spaces incorporate additional capacity, production efficiencies, robust finishes and were designed to allow the existing winery to remain in operation during the construction period.
The ticket price includes a site tour, wine tasting (or non-alcoholic drinks) and snacks. Additional food and drink will be available to purchase from the cellar door.
Please RSVP to secure your spot + make sure to join the waitlist if we reach capacity. If you have any issues registering please feel free to contact us for guidance. Looking forward to seeing you there.
