Bowen Mountain Preparing for Fire and Biodiversity Workshop

The Nature Conservation Council of NSW's Bushfire Program invites you come along to this community event.
What:
Learn more about your local biodiversity, bushfire risk, fire management, and how to protect your home from fire.
In this community workshop:
• Hear from the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, Nature Conservation Council of NSW, Merana Aboriginal Community Association and Hawkesbury Environmental Network.
• Inspect nearby bushland to discuss fire ecology, fire behaviour and bushfire risk
• Ask questions about your local area and how to prepare your home and property
• Learn more about the intricacies of organising hazard reduction activities
• Meet and re-connect with neighbours and talk to local agency people working to protect your neighbourhood
PLEASE NOTE: If you register after the 22nd of October, dietary requirements can not be taken into consideration.
Places are limited so claim your spot early!

Where:
Please meet at the Bowen Mountain Community Centre - 101 Lieutenant Bowen Road, Bowen Mountain.
The day will also include some walking (less than 1km on a fire trail), some parts will be on a loose track, so please wear comfortable enclosed walking shoes.

Who should attend:
Residents of Bowen Mountain and those who have bush-adjacent properties in close proximity to Bowen Mountain are invited to participate. Everyone with an interest in the environment, property preparedness or bushfire planning is welcome.
Cost:
Registrations are free but essential and includes morning tea and lunch. Places are limited so claim your spot early, registrations close 22nd October. Please register above.
What to bring:
Please ensure you are wearing enclosed comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and have a water bottle and wet weather gear if needed.
You do not need to bring a ticket, there will be a registration desk with your name at the venue.
If you are feeling unwell, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, please do not attend this in-person event.
