“Multimorbidity, the experience of living with two or more long-term health conditions, is a problem caused by dramatic improvements in medical treatments and overall living conditions, which have increased life expectancy in most countries over the last 50 years. However, our healthcare systems were not designed to deal with this problem, generally specialising and focusing on single conditions. Across the world, rates of multimorbidity are rising, with one in four adults in the UK now affected. This public lecture will explore how we got here, the challenges, and some suggestions for improvements”.
