Dr. Katie Uhl is a Food Scientist at MeliBio which is bringing animal-free honey to the market. She works on product formulation, supply chain and regulation, as well as scaling up production in order to develop a more sustainable product for all pollinators. Katie earned her PhD in Food Science from UC Davis in 2022 where her research focused on characterizing the fruit and flower of the California-native blue elderberry.

Sometimes you just need to talk to someone who understands what you’re going through or bounce an idea off a neutral party. That’s why connecting with local peers and people working in similar environments or disciplines is essential for career success. When you join the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), you gain access to our expansive community of science of food professionals.
