The National Council of Women of Queensland Inc (NCWQ) is pleased to invite our members to join us for the June 2023 members meeting.

Virginia Nelson will provide an update on the Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Command, followed by the CEO of Women's Legal Services who will provide their perspective and experience on the aforementioned. There will be time for Q&A from the audience, followed by networking to meet and mingle with our fellow NCWQ members and affiliates.

The meeting will be held at QUT Gardens Point in Brisbane, and all NCWQ members and members of affiliates are invited to attend.

Speakers

Virginia Nelson

Virginia Nelson is Chief Superintendent, Operations Coordinator, Ethical Standards Command in the Queensland Police Service. Having joined the Service at 18 Virginia has more than 30 years’ service and has worked in rural, regional and metropolitan areas across Queensland.

Promoted to commissioned rank in 2008, Virginia has undertaken several appointments in Central Queensland before returning to Brisbane in 2017 as the Assistant District Officer, South Brisbane District. Appointed to Chief Superintendent at the Ethical Standards Command in 2019, Virginia is responsible for the Internal Investigation and Integrity and Performance Groups for the Service.

Nadia Bromley

Nadia is the CEO of Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ), a charitable organisation providing free legal advice and other supporting services to women. WLSQ is committed to a society in which every woman can live free from violence and discrimination and receive a just and equitable outcome from legal and social systems.

Nadia has qualifications in law and business and is passionate about access to justice, legal services, and women's rights and safety. Nadia has a broad range of experience across a diverse range of roles in the corporate, profit-for-purpose, and community sector.

Nadia is focused on legal and social issues affecting women and working with a diverse network of organisations and supporters who are united by a shared belief in protecting the rights of women.
