Create your own festive handmade Christmas ornament in this exciting one-day needle-felting workshop! Participants will learn Sarah’s distinctive fibre art techniques using wool fibres, colour blending, and texture-building to create a beautiful decorative piece. Choose from three festive-inspired designs: ‘Wool You Look at That!’ (sheep), ‘A Very Kiwi Christmas’ (kiwi), or ‘New Zealand Christmas Tree’ (pōhutukawa flower). Your unique handmade ornament will make a beautiful addition to your home or a heartfelt gift for someone special.
This workshop is part of our DEPOT Turns 30 celebrations and will take place in the gallery amongst the artworks in our DEPOT's BIG, Little Exhibition!
Tickets are $160 and cover all materials and refreshments provided by our partners Toi Toi wines. This workshop is suitable for adults. Koha will be accepted upon entry.
About Sarah Ritchie
Sarah Ritchie is a New Zealand fibre artist who specialises in creating two dimensional needle-felted artwork using wool and other natural fibres.
Drawing inspiration from the landscapes, animals and birds of rural Aotearoa, Sarah transforms wool into richly layered “fibre paintings” that capture the beauty of the natural world.
Sarah’s needle-felting workshops are designed to nurture confidence and curiosity – helping participants slow down, explore colour and texture, and discover the quiet satisfaction of making beautiful, unique artwork with an all-natural materials.
