The Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth family camp is for young people with diabetes from the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough area and their families.

Approximately 20 families attend, with children and teenagers of all ages.While parts of the weekend are planned with activities, there will be plenty of time for relaxing and getting to know other families. 

Camp runs from Friday evening until Sunday early afternoon. All meals are catered for under the guidance of a dietitian. Health professionals will also be present.

Child and adult tickets are $15 plus GST ($2.25). A booking fee of 3% + $0.30 per ticket is also charged, with all proceeds going to charitable education projects.

Diabetes NZ covers all other costs of this amazing weekend, and once we have confirmed numbers at Teapot Valley Christian Camp, we are committed to pay for these numbers. Please see cancellation policy below.

Every child and teen attending camp will be given a camp t-shirt designed by one our young community members. Adults can purchase a t-shirt for $20.

All registrations must be received by 5th February 2021.
Previously we have had more than 80 people at camp. Early registration will secure a space for your family at this fantastic and very affordable weekend. Beds are allocated on a first in, first served basis and are often full before our registrations close, however camping (your own tent) may be an option once the rooms are full. We will send out more information once registration is completed.

If any of your family have food allergies OR any special food or health requirements apart from diabetes please explain when completing registration.

Code of Conduct

Before completing registration you will be asked to agree to the Code of Conduct, as below.

All Campers:
• Teapot Valley is a Christian-run camp and behaviour is to be appropriate.
• Reasonable quietness is required between 10.30pm – 7am.
• No smoking, alcohol or illegal drugs will be tolerated.

Parental Code of Conduct:

This Code of Conduct requires anyone over the age of 18 years attending Family Camp to endeavour to the best of their ability to ensure the physical, emotional and psychological safety of any child/youth they may come in to contact with during the camp.

Diabetes management

Please note that families are responsible for their own health and welfare including the management of their diabetes. All food will be available, including snacks, but please bring all your insulin, testing gear and glucose.

Covid-19

Camp will only run under Alert Level 1. If camp is cancelled due to a change in Alert Level, full refunds will be given and a postponement date will be determined if appropriate.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations after 19th February 2021 will incur a fee to cover accommodation and catering costs incurred by Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth Branch. In the event of cancellation due to ill health or unforeseen circumstances, refunds will be considered by the Diabetes NZ Nelson Youth Branch Committee.
