Join NENA's Localisation Hub for a fantastic 2-hour workshop about the Offers and Needs Market. Your workshop facilitators will be Anisa Rogers (Degrowth Network Australia and NENA Localisation Hub) and Samantha Wittenberg (Certified Offers and Needs Market Facilitator).

What is the Offers & Needs Market (OANM)?

Two-hour, guided process where people meet to identify and exchange passions, knowledge, skills, resources, opportunities, and needs. From finding a place to live, to sharing a recipe, engaging a professional service or a tutor, the opportunities are endless!

To really be effective, OANM's need to be repeated regularly, thus building up and strengthening the connections and trust.

Who is it for?

Absolutely everyone, including children. We all have passions, resources, skills, services, knowledge and opportunities that we can share with others. And we all have things we need.

Why are we passionate about the Offers & Needs Market?

We see this as one of the ways to empower communities to take charge of their economic autonomy, creating new economies that are on a human scale, equitable and localised. Economic empowerment builds resilience in the face of crisis and change.

Equally important, the market allows diverse people to easily connect, leading to increased well being and less social isolation.

What do the surveys and the research show about the results?

Social connections were some of the most powerful results from the survey data, with 80% of respondents meeting a possible connection, demonstrating the potential OANMs have for relational wellbeing. See https://offersandneeds.com/impact/

A couple of quotes to sum up:

"The OANM unearths and shares the diverse forms of wealth we all have, and reminds us that so much of what we need for a good life is already within our grasp."

"Community is built by debt, not self reliance. Not the debt that is legally enforceable, but the "debt" of gratitude." ( paraphrased from Charles Eisenstein)
