Sat, 10 May, 7:30am - 9am AEST

Event description

Grab your binoculars and join naturalist bird specialist, Melissa Whitby on a guided morning walk through Nerang National Park. This 90-minute walk will help you to learn about some of the common and rare birds of Nerang as well as tools to identify them. Whether you are lifelong bird watcher or just beginning your journey this walk will help attune you to the natural world.

As well as connecting with nature and other bird lovers, your participation in this survey will help contribute to conservation research that is making a difference. Data collected will help scientists to better understand bird biodiversity, ecosystem health, and identify threatened species. Attendees are encouraged to download the free iNaturalist app prior to the survey and join the Friends of Nerang National Park iNaturalist Project.

Please bring along a pair of binoculars if you have them to give yourself the best chance of identifying those more elusive, tree-top dwelling, or majestic birds of prey, hovering overhead.

This event is proudly supported by a Community Sustainability Action Grant from the Queensland Government.
