Event description

Come on an exciting 90-minute nighttime adventure uncovering the arboreal nocturnal species within Nerang National Park. Did you know that approximately 70% of mammals are nocturnal and approximately 60% of insects are active at night? Attendees may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of possums, koalas, owls, bandicoots, or even an endangered greater glider.

As well as connecting with nature and other adventurers, your participation in this survey will help contribute to conservation research that is making a difference. Data collected will help scientists to better understand nocturnal faunal biodiversity, ecosystem health, and identify threatened species. Attendees are encouraged to download the free iNaturalist app prior to the survey and join the Friends of Nerang National Park iNaturalist Project.

This survey caters to beginners. You do not need any prior knowledge to participate in this survey, only a keen eye and willingness to explore the wilderness nightlife.

Please note, the exact meeting point for this survey will be shared in an email for registered attendees closer to the event.

This event is proudly supported by a Community Sustainability Action Grant from the Queensland Government.
