PRESENTATION: It's Only One More Season: Anticipating Star Wars > Experiencing Star Wars

By Alex Gradet

Summary: From the first time I saw the Return (then-Revenge) of the Jedi teaser trailer on the 1982 rerelease of Empire, I was caught in the spell of anticipation of MOAR STAR WAR. This bore out to be true through the '97 Special Editions, the fool-me-once Prequels, and up to and including the trailer drop for Rise of Skywalker (the moment in which I realized that, however the movie turned out, that moment was *perfect*). This led me to realize that while many Star Wars properties have held the capacity to disappoint - even the *good* ones - almost no Star Wars *trailer* (and the period of speculation, discussion, excitement that follows) does, and I tend to regard with suspicion people who love Star Wars but are guarded in their anticipation

Bio: Over the course of his career, Emmy nominee ALEXANDER GRADET has created award-winning graphics, music, lyrics, screenplays, stageplays, comic books, commercials, promos and branding content for Blue Sky Studios, DC Comics, Disney Channels Worldwide, Mighty Atomic Industries, The Second City, and The American Museum of Natural History. He currently works as Executive Writer/Producer for Disney Branded Television (where his 2000 produced deliverables include the 2018 launch campaign for STAR WARS: RESISTANCE, which managed to be instantly despised by the internet.) A Baltimore native and lapsed New Yorker, he lives in Southern California’s beautiful San Fernando Valley, with his wife, son and dog.
