    Event description

Nerd Nite is an evening of entertaining and educational presentations. Speakers present on a topic they are passionate about, followed by a brief Q&A with the audience. For the past 11 years, Nerd Nite has held regular events in Orlando open to everyone but traditionally for adults.

Now for the first time since 2013, Nerd Nite Orlando will hold a special event at the Orlando Public Library on Saturday, May 11th at 3pm called “Nerd Nite Next Gen” featuring all teenage speakers.

    Featured talks:

1.) “The Doctor’s Hand in Historical Demise” by Hiba Bilal

2.) “How a Tiny Cyanobacteria You’ve Probably Never Heard of Powers the World” by Victoria Huber

3.) “Why Pluto Is Not a Planet And Why it Was a Planet” By Katie Mathews

Next Gen will also feature trivia, a nerdy t-shirt contest**, and a raffle.

Prizes include Disney World Park Hopper passes, custom framed photographs such as Steven Maddow’s Falcon Heavy & the Moon, Derek Gore’s Does It Know Who I Am, gift cards to Sampaguita Ice Cream, and more! **Remember to wear a nerdy t-shirt for the contest.

We also invite you to bring gently used books to Nerd Nite Next Gen as a donation to the library bookstore. Proceeds from the bookstore are used by the Friends of the Orange County Library System to support library programs and services.
