Nervous System Reset: A Guided Breathwork Session
Description
About this event
An hour to breathe, slow down and let the day drop away a little.
This is a gentle, guided breathwork session with grounding, music and plenty of time to rest. You don’t need any experience, you don’t need to be good at meditation, and you definitely don’t need to arrive feeling calm.
It’ll be a small, supportive and LGBTIQA+ friendly space, held by a trauma therapist and breathwork facilitator.
What happens in the session?
We’ll start by getting settled and talking through the breathing practice, so you know exactly what to expect.
From there, we’ll move through:
A gentle grounding and body check-in
A simple intention for the session, if you’d like to set one
Guided breathwork supported by music
Time to return to your natural breath and rest
Grounding and an optional reflection to finish
You can participate while sitting or lying down, with your eyes open or closed.
The breathing will be gentle and paced—no rapid, forceful breathing or long breath holds. You’re in charge throughout and can pause, move, return to your normal breathing or sit something out at any time.
What might it feel like?
Everyone experiences breathwork differently.
You might feel relaxed, clearer or more present. You might notice sensations in your body or emotions moving through. Or you might simply enjoy having an hour where nothing is expected of you.
There’s no particular way you’re supposed to feel and no pressure to share anything personal.
What might you leave with?
You may leave feeling lighter, calmer or a little less caught up in the pace of the day.
You’ll also have a simple breathing practice you can come back to outside the session.
Experiences vary, and breathwork isn’t a replacement for medical or psychological care.
What is breathwork?
At its simplest, breathwork is breathing with intention and noticing what happens.
It can be helpful if traditional meditation feels difficult or your mind doesn’t particularly enjoy being told to 'just switch off'. The breath gives you something physical to focus on while you slow things down and reconnect with your body.
This session isn’t about pushing yourself, it’s about noticing what’s present and listening to what your body needs.
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re already wearing is fine—there’s no breathwork uniform.
Wear activewear or comfy clothes if you’d like, but you’re also very welcome to come straight from work. You just need to be comfortable enough to sit or lie down.
What to bring
Please bring:
A water bottle
A warm layer, as you might feel cooler while resting
An eye mask, blanket or small cushion if you’d prefer to use your own
Try to arrive hydrated and avoid having a very heavy meal immediately before the session.
