Net-Zero Mobility and Transport
Event description
By 2030, as emissions from the energy sector decline with the transition to renewables, transport is set to become the highest emitting sector in Australia. Reducing emissions from transport includes reducing the need to travel (e.g. through better planning and digital access solutions), shifting from private to public transport and sustainable modes and improving the efficiency of vehicles (e.g. through electrification and the recently announced New Vehicle Efficiency Standard). Â
Australia is well placed to develop a strong manufacturing industry and supply chain in zero emissions transport and mobility. But, while new technologies and capabilities are emerging, there are clear obstacles to a fast transformation, and considerable investment and policy support is required to support the industry transition and deliver the new infrastructure needed. The role of government is critical in cooperating with key industry players, legislation and policy will support global OEMs to bring their best technologies to our market as well, and public and private sector investment is needed to support local manufacturing and export, creating independence and future jobs.
Come along and hear from DCCEEW about their plans from a NSW Government perspective, Polestar about their global approach to net-zero 2030 and commitments in mobility, as well as Australian vehicle and aviation OEMs and solution providers including GoZero Group, Dovetail and Janus about their strategies and pathways to achieving common net-zero emission transport and mobility objectives.
