Multicultural Centre for Women's Health warmly invites you to attend an evening of discussion, entertainment and networking at the NETFA campaign launch to end Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in Australia.

The NETFA campaign aims to raise awareness that All women and girls who experience or are at risk of FGM/C have the right to high quality, safe, and person-centred health care.

It targets health professionals, specifically General Practitioners, maternal and child health nurses, midwives/obstetricians/gynaecologists in promoting culturally sensitive and optimal care for migrant women and girls affected by FGM/C.

Keynote speaker
Dr Jasmine Abdulcadir MD PD FECSM, an obstetrician/gynaecologist and founder of the outpatient clinic for women and girls living with FGM/C, Geneva University Hospitals, will be speaking at this launch on international best practice and care for migrant women and girls affected by FGM/C.

Fatu Silah, a young migrant woman affected by FGM/C will also share her experiences of accessing health care services in Australia.

Advancing the Evidence Conference

This event is part of Advancing the Evidence, a national conference on migrant women's sexual and reproductive health on 27-28 February 2020. The conference will bring together Australia's key health specialists and researchers for two full days of talks and panels. NETFA (National Education Toolkit for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting Awareness) is a project funded by the Federal Government to work with health professionals to better support women who have experienced FGM/C and to raise awareness on FGM/C health risks in the community.

NETFA is managed by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health – a community-based organisation led by and for women from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
