Network of Practice - Building New Pathways: 1 Day Trauma-Informed Practice Workshop

Join us for a free one-day training workshop on Trauma-Informed Practice with Phil Bird from the Nest Health Hub. Thanks to funding from the Office for Regional Youth, this training will explore the Building New Pathways integrative clinical model. Specifically designed for professionals who support children and adolescents with early developmental trauma, the workshop provides an in-depth overview of practical neuroscience, trauma, and brain development.

About Building New Pathways:

Building New Pathways is an integrative clinical model grounded in neuroscience principles, specifically tailored for individuals who have experienced childhood trauma. The training covers practical strategies for managing complex behaviours and developing resilience through relationship-based approaches.

Training Breakdown:

• Understanding Trauma and Brain Development: Learn about the “Building New Pathways” model and nervous system repair strategies based on the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) by Bruce Perry.
• Polyvagal Theory Application: Discover practical strategies for ensuring safety in home, school, and therapeutic environments.
• Behavioural Insights: Explore common behaviours resulting from compromised brain development.
• Trauma Lens: Gain a new understanding of child and adolescent behaviour through The Window of Tolerance.
• Practical Strategies: Learn techniques to prevent challenging behaviour.
• Symptom Understanding: Understand trauma-based symptoms and behaviours within the ‘Pathways’ framework to guide case planning and support strategies.
• Response Strategies: Develop trauma-informed responses to issues such as anxiety, defiance, emotional outbursts, hyperactivity, sleep problems, and aggression.
• Therapeutic Relationships: Learn how to build therapeutic relationships with children, youth, and families who have experienced early attachment ruptures.
• Safe Environments: Explore strategies to create safe and therapeutic environments for traumatized children and adolescents.
• Attachment Networks: Learn how to work with a child’s attachment network to develop safety, caregiver atunement, and attachment security.
