Neuk Online Create + Connect: Weaving Workshop
Wednesday 19 August 2026
6pm - 7.30pm
Online
Free, but booking is required
Limited to 15 places
Join us for the first ever Neuk Online Create + Connect session: a relaxed online space for neurodivergent artists in Scotland to make something together, chat and connect with other people.
For this first session, textile artist Martyna Michalak will lead us through making a small woven piece. You do not need any previous weaving experience. During the session, Martyna will guide us through the activity step by step.
This is a low-pressure session - weaving can be a calming, meditative activity, offering a chance to slow down, focus on the rhythm of making and relax. There's no need to make a finished piece - just enjoy making and spending time with other ND creatives.
We will post everyone who books a pack containing the equipment and materials they need to take part.
The session will be hosted by volunteers Gaelle and Libby .
About Create + Connect
This is an initial session for what we hope will become an ongoing monthly online group for neurodivergent artists in Scotland.
Create + Connect will be a friendly, informal space where people can try creative activities, meet other neurodivergent artists and spend time making together.
We welcome anyone who is interested in taking part and helping us shape the future of the group.
About the artist
Martyna Michalak is a self-taught weaver. She began weaving five years ago after attending a community weaving workshop.
Martyna fell in love with weaving because it helps her to express and understand herself, and has had a positive impact on her mental health.
Three years ago, she started The Conscious Living, a community project offering free weaving workshops. The project aims to support mental health by bringing people together, reducing loneliness and encouraging self-expression.
Martyna has also completed several commissions. Her work was included in the mental health art exhibition Out of Sight, Out of Mind in October 2025 and at the Edinburgh Climate Festival 2025.
Access
The session will take place online. You are welcome to join in whatever way works best for you. You can keep your camera off, take breaks and participate as much or as little as you like.
More access information will be shared with everyone who books.
Who can take part?
This workshop is for neurodivergent artists and creatives who live in Scotland.
You do not need to be a professional artist, a Neuk member, or have any previous weaving experience.
Booking
Places are free but limited to 15 people, so booking is required.
We will ask for your postal address when you book so that we can send you the equipment and materials you need for the workshop. Materials packs can only be posted to addresses in the UK.
