Neuroscience, Responsibility, and the Law

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The law makes assumptions about how people think—how we reason, why we act, and what it takes for us to be responsible. Advances in neuroscience constantly challenge these assumptions. How should advances in our understanding of the brain and mind affect classic legal questions? Join us for a public conversation with Professor Jeanette Kennett (Philosophy, Macquarie University) and Professor Mark Nolan (Director of the Centre for Law and Justice, Charles Sturt University), moderated by Dr Jelena Gligorijevic (Law, ANU).

This event is co-sponsored by the Australasian Society for Philosophy and Psychology 2023 Conference and ANU Philosophy's Centre for Philosophy of the Sciences.
