CARD
CARD is an emerging architecture and urban design practice with an interest in how people use and occupy space at a variety of scales. Jimi Connor and Tahj Rosmarin founded the practice in 2020 after gaining experience working at a number of award-winning architectural practices in Australia and the UK. CARD's work is focused on improving the 'everyday' practice of people's lives. We offer a genuine and down-to-earth approach to design that considers the way people use and interact with space. Studying and practicing architecture in Queensland is where Tahj and Jimi developed a shared appreciation of simple architecture: robust, interactive and appropriate. This philosophy is at the core of CARD's work, and is tested at variety of scales, through unique private houses, urban research projects or advocacy work.
Ben Lance Architects
Ben Lance studied architecture at the University of Melbourne and graduated in 2005. During his studies and early years of work, Ben spent time away from architecture as a writer and then working on building sites. Having completed a variety of project types in Melbourne and Sydney, he now predominantly designs new houses as a registered architect and sole practitioner.
Sonia Sarangi is a registered architect and co-founded Andever in 2014 with Michael Smith. She is an immigrant with roots in South Asia, arriving in Melbourne as an international student in 2006. Born and raised in the Middle-East, she subsequently worked in South East Asia prior to migrating to Naarm. Sonia is board chair at ArchiTeam Cooperative, board member at Ausdance Victoria, sessional staff at the Melbourne School of Design, a passionate advocate for diversity and a mentor to many.
Antarctica Architects
Established in 2005, Antarctica Architects has worked with a wide range of clients to bring architecture to as wide an audience as possible. The practice applies design intelligence to a broad set of situations: peripheral locations, difficult programs and tight budgets. Antarctica Architects aims to participate in, and promote collaborative processes with, teams and design disciplines through good communication and engagement with natural environments and ordinary life. The practice’s involvement in academic work at RMIT University means that their design is informed by research, experimentation and reflection. They also share ideas by writing for journals, giving lectures, teaching and publishing and exhibiting projects.
