Purpose
To provide Geelong Regional Engineers Group (GREG) members and their families with a unique and enjoyable experience that combines professional interest with social engagement.

Event Overview

A unique opportunity for private access to rear areas of the new Elephant Enclosure at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

This event is designed to appeal to both professionals and their families, in Geelong and Melbourne areas. Potentially being the very first GREG family day!

The event includes:

Back-of-House Technical Tour 1:00 PM: A behind-the-scenes guided tour of the newly constructed elephant enclosure (ages 8+). Zookeepers and staff will discuss the engineering, construction challenges, training areas, and operational considerations involved in developing this complex habitat.

Public Walking Tour with Technical Focus 2:00 PM: A guided walk through the zoo’s public areas with commentary on design, infrastructure, sustainability, and engineering solutions used across the site. This is open to all ages.

Free Exploration: Explore the zoo at their leisure around the tours.

• Tour Cost $50pp, it does not include entry fee to the zoo. Attendees and their family must purchase their own entry to the zoo.

• Attendees should arrive at the visitor centre no later than 12PM on the day, to ensure the group can go to the elephant enclosure together and be there in time for the tour to start at 1PM.

• Attendees must wear closed shoes. Sandals or thongs are not considered safe footwear for the back-of-house technical tour.
