Gallery 1A | Sentient
Elliott Fox
Elliott Fox is an emerging artist whose mixed media practice is deeply grounded in principles of empathy and advocacy. On the back of a spectacular début solo exhibition, 'Saint Grey' on greyhounds and dog racing that travelled across Australia and raised over $8,000 donated to charity, he now brings together several of his recent soulful and thought-provoking works. Sentient follows Elliott's current art series on greyhound advocacy, and looks at the sentience of all non-human animals as deserving of the same care, protection and love as any other family member. Artwork mediums include impasto paintings, screen prints, and an installation.
Gallery 1B | Shorelines
Helen Brancatisano, Miriam Cullen, Trish Yates
This exhibition of works on paper will showcase three very different artistic responses to time spent alongside the changing moods of the coastal landscape on the NSW Central Coast over the course of two years.Keenly aware of what they were seeing, hearing, touching and smelling on site, the three began with preparatory ink, charcoal and watercolour drawings, returning to their own studios to develop their ideas into completed works including linocuts, Mokuhanga, monotypes and ink drawings, as well as artist books and paper sculptures.
Gallery 2 | Bloom
Eggpicnic
Bloom explores the persistence of life under pressure. In a time shaped by colonisation, human conflict and the consequences of climate change inaction, it draws attention to animals that survive within fragile and changing environments. The exhibition brings together species from across the world, chosen for the lives they lead. These animals reveal how closely human actions shape the conditions in which life persists.
Gallery 3 | Partial Index
Dörte Conway
With this new body of work, Dörte Conroy introduces collaged imagery drawn from a collection of documentary photography spanning the late nineteenth century through to the 1990s.Removed from the original context, these images carry traces of lived history, memory and observation.Dörte combines these photographic fragments with vivid blocks of colour, creating a visual tension between representation and abstraction.
Chutespace | Shy, Secretive and Precious
Penelope Mims
Having a deep love and appreciation of the natural world, Penelope’s work seeks to reflect the beauty of the environment in an abstract way using ceramic materials in the hand-built form.Generally, her work features various clays and texturing and decorative processes, including textured and painted surfaces. It seeks to represent both environmental beauty and environmental heartache. There is a strong, implicit environmental protection theme - which tries to challenge us all to explore and question our relationship with, and perception of, the beautiful and wild natural world.
Exhibitions run from Friday 20 March to Sunday 20 April 2026
Gallery opening times: Wednesday to Sunday, 12 - 5pm.
M16 Artspace operates on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We honour and pay our respects to their traditional custodians. We acknowledge this land always was and always will be the country of Australia’s First Nations People. Sovereignty was never ceded.
