Make a Rag Rug with Vita Cochran
Event description
As part of New Exuberance and ADC's Winter Workshop Series 2025, make a handmade rug using recycled woollen materials with textile artist Vita Cochran. Vita will share the history of hooked rag rugs and a selection of Vita’s rugs will be on display for inspiration.
This workshop is designed for all skills levels including beginners. Participants will learn how to source and prepare materials. All materials will be provided to start a small, hooked rug to finish at home.
About Vita Cochran
Vita Cochran is a textile artist whose work includes handbags made from repurposed climbing rope to large scale fabric abstractions and hand-hooked rag rugs. She has a rag rug in the New Exuberance touring exhibition which is made after a circular geometric rug seen in a Sonia Delaunay painting ‘Groupe Des Femmes’ from 1924.
