Join the New Sun Quintet for a special evening of contemporary jazz at Church Street Studios on 21st of August. This performance marks a special farewell to the ensemble's co-leader, Alexander Grace before he relocates to New York to commence his studies at the Manhattan School of Music.
Doors open at 7:30pm, music at 8pm. Tickets $25 General Admission.
The music of New Sun is filled with optimism, unity, and deep collaboration. Formed through their studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, the ensemble was brought together by a shared desire to create music that reflects their diverse cultural, and artistic backgrounds. Their absolute trust in one another is evident in every performance, creating a sound that is both adventurous and deeply connected. Rooted in jazz nostalgia, New Sun’s music blends the groove and spirit of swing with the harmonic sophistication and subtlety of contemporary jazz and classical music.
This night will feature Zac Sandilands (piano), Matthew Ling (bass), Jack Rosenzweig (drums), Justin Yeo (tenor saxophone), and Alexander Grace (trombone), showcasing some of Australia’s most exciting emerging improvisers.
