  • What is Cuban Salsa and Rueda?

Cuban Salsa's true name is Casino; it's a vibrant, social partner dance that developed in Cuba in the 1950s and continues to evolve today. It blends Afro-Cuban and European influences and is danced in a circular, flowing style that feels playful, rhythmic, and connected.

Rueda de Casino takes Salsa to another level — couples dance together in a circle, changing partners and calling out moves as a group. It’s energetic, interactive, and incredibly fun.

Salsa is a skill you can take onto dance floors around the world. As you progress, you can also explore related Cuban dance styles like Rueda de Casino, Cha-Cha, Son, Mambo, Afro-Cuban Orishas and Rumba — all part of the rich Cuban dance tradition we share at The Cuban Groove.

Expect laughter, connection, and a welcoming community atmosphere.

  • What are the health benefits of learning to dance?

Dancing is one of the most enjoyable ways to become fitter and healthier.

Salsa and Rueda provide a full-body workout that improves heart and lung health, muscle tone and strength, endurance, coordination, balance, motor skills, and aerobic fitness.

It’s also fantastic for your mental health. Dancing is social and uplifting — you’ll meet new people, build confidence, and feel the joy of moving to music. Countless friendships (and even a few partnerships!) have grown from our classes.

Best of all, you’re exercising without it feeling like exercise — you’re simply having a great time.

  • Do I need a partner?

    No partner needed!

Cuban Salsa and Rueda are social dances, and we rotate partners during class so everyone gets to dance with different people. This helps you learn faster, build confidence, and feel comfortable dancing with anyone.

Many students come on their own — and that’s completely normal. You’ll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive community from the moment you walk in.

Just bring yourself and a willingness to have fun.

  • I’ve never danced before — is this really for me?

    Yes — absolutely.

Our Beginners & Improvers class is designed specifically for people who are new to Salsa or returning after a break. We break everything down step by step so you can build confidence at your own pace.

    You don’t need rhythm.
    You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be “fit enough.”

You just need to show up.

Many of our most confident dancers started exactly where you are now. And you’ll be surprised how quickly you improve when you’re learning in a fun, encouraging environment.

If you’ve been thinking about trying Salsa… this is your sign.
