CALLING ALL CREATIVE TEAMS — HELP US MAKE HISTORY!
Could your team help build New Zealand’s Most Creative Chain Reaction?STEM Wana Trust is teaming up with celebrity inventor and YouTube sensation Joseph Herscher of Joseph’s Machines to bring an epic chain reaction to life in Tauranga — and we want creative teams from across Aotearoa to be part of it!
What’s the challenge?
Get your team together and show us what you can create!
Build a sample chain reaction using at least 3 of the 6 simple machines.
Film your creation in a video of no more than 2 minutes and submit your entry by 15 December 2026.
We’ll select 20 teams to take part in the attempt with Joseph on the big day in January, with another 4 teams earning their place through a People’s Choice vote!
When: 19 January 2027
Where: Masonic Park, Tauranga
Team size: 4–6 people
On the big day, selected teams will work together to build one epic long chain reaction across 12 boards, with the ultimate goal of triggering a surprise finale — with guidance from Joseph himself!
Forget fancy equipment. We want creativity, clever use of reusable materials, problem-solving, teamwork and, above all, FUN!
