Join us for the launch of our new publishing project Town Hall, a newspaper about Queensland art.
From previews to reviews, features to quizzes, Town Hall is a 32-page deep dive on all there is to see and know about our contemporary art scene. Featuring pieces on Archie Moore, Taring Padi and proppaNOW, Iris van Herpen, Judy Watson, Jemima Wyman, and more.
The art business is awash with words—with statements and didactics, criticism and comms, on paper and online. But why? What do words add to art? Join our panel—Amelia Barikin (Senior Lecturer, Art History, University of Queensland), Adam Ford (Assistant Curator, Indigenous Australian Art, Queensland Art Gallery), and Helen Hughes (Co-editor, Discipline)—as they answer the obvious question: why write about art?

The gallery entrance is on the ground floor of the Judith Wright Arts Centre, on Berwick Street. There is wheelchair access and an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities also located on the ground floor, and we welcome guide and support dogs.
