John Summers’ latest book of essays, The Commercial Hotel, covers, among other things, ghosts, school camps, the Commodore 64 computer, the house built by Prime Minister Norman Kirk, eels, and the Arcoroc mug. The result, reviewer Tom Doig says, is “Meticulously researched, gorgeously written and endlessly surprising, ... a compendium of sparkling oddities.” (The Spinoff).
