Description

With Americans heading to the polls for the midterm elections on 3 November, the direction of the world's most important economy and alliance partner is once again up for grabs.

Join the Centre for Independent Studies for an intimate lunch with Robert Doar, President of the American Enterprise Institute, one of Washington's most influential think tanks, for an insider's view of American politics at a pivotal moment.

Fresh from Washington, Robert will unpack how the Trump administration's agenda on tax, regulation, trade and energy is landing with business, what the MAGA movement means for the future of the Republican Party and the broader centre right, and what the midterms could mean for Congress, the White House and America's relationships with allies such as Australia.

This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the head of one of America's leading centre-right institutions, just two weeks out from a defining election.

Robert Doar is President of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a position he has held since 2019. Before leading AEI, he was the Morgridge Fellow in Poverty Studies at the Institute, and previously served as Commissioner of New York City's Human Resources Administration under Mayor Michael Bloomberg and as Commissioner of New York State's Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. He is a leading voice on welfare reform, economic opportunity and the future of American conservatism.
