Inaugural Ngā Rangahautira Gala Dinner
Event description
The Inaugural Gala Dinner is a chance to celebrate Ngā Rangahautira; its past, present and future. It will bring tauira Māori from Te Kauhanganui Tātai Ture (Faculty of Law) together with Māori law alumni of Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
The focus of the night is whanaungatanga and ngahau. The Dinner will also draw on the whakatauāki from Te Kooti Arikirangi Te Turuki, "Ma te ture anō te ture e āki - Only the law can be set against the law".
As such, the Honourable Justice Joe Williams will present a keynote speech highlighting the significance of being a Māori who happens to have a law degree.
It will also be an opportunity to acknowledge some individual successes of tauira and alumni, and update our Ngā Rangahautira whānau of what has been achieved by our rōpū this year.
Ngā Rangahautira would like to thank our major sponsors for making the Inaugural Ngā Rangahautira Gala Dinner a possibility: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Māori), Whāia Legal, Luke Cunningham Clere, Bell Gully, Dentons Kensington Swan, and Chapman Tripp.
