Description

Ngā Taonga o Kōanga | Treasures of Spring

As the whenua awakens, Ngā Taonga o Kōanga celebrates the gifts of spring—renewal, new growth, and the enduring relationship between people and the natural world.

Jane Johnson-Matua creates artworks using uku (wild clay) respectfully collected from the whenua of local iwi and handmade harakeke paper, bringing together materials that are deeply connected to Aotearoa. More than artistic media, uku and harakeke carry stories of place, whakapapa, and resilience. Combined with reclaimed and natural materials, each artwork reflects the rhythms of kōanga and the life that emerges with the changing season.

Join us in celebrating the treasures of spring through art that honours whenua, culture, and the regenerative cycles of nature.
