Join the Wellington and Wairarapa Chapters as they host their first joint event in the beautiful Wairarapa. Make it an afternoon and enjoy some wonderful wine and food from Nga Waka.

We’ll hear Victoria Read speak about her inspiration for the design of the beautiful Nga Waka Cellar door building. Victoria said of the design, “We took inspiration from the legend behind the brand name, the great Māori explorer Kupe – the range of hills to the South East of Martinborough named Ngā Waka-a-Kupe and Ngā-rā-o-Kupe in the South (The sails of Kupe)”.

About Victoria
Victoria Read is a Wairarapa based architect and owner of Aspect Architecture. She graduated from Victoria University with an Honours degree in Architecture which she completed while raising her 4 children and working in architecture part time.

Amongst other awards, Victoria was the winner of the 2019 Wairarapa Drake NZ Service award, Highly commended NAWIC 2019 Professional Woman of the year and in 2022 won an NZIA local architecture award for the Nga Waka Cellar Door Project.

Victoria undertakes Pro-Bono work on a regular basis and was instrumental in delivering the Waihinga Centre in Martinborough to the community.

Victoria is a keen gardener and works part time for the New Zealand Gardens trust in addition to her role as Director of Aspect Architecture.
