Ngala Tours - Weaving for Wellbeing

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join Wiradjuri fibre artist Jessika Spencer, Indigenous Education Officer at the National Arboretum Canberra in a gentle introduction to Aboriginal weaving.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn about both contemporary and traditional weaving in the serenity of the National Arboretum Canberra landscape.

Part indoors, part outdoors, the session will be split into a weaving element where we will create a woven piece of art (whether that be a basket, coolamon, dillybag or jewellery adornment) and a walk through of the Mununja Butterfly Garden to learn which native plants you are able to resource collect and process for weaving.

These intimate sessions are tailored, and suitable for those who are beginners, intermediate and expert weavers.

All weaving materials are provided. You will also receive a Ngala Tours cotton draw string dilly bag containing 600ml water & bush tucker samples to enjoy.
