Ngatamahine Wetland Restoration Planting Day

Ngararanui, Ngararanui , Ko ngā wai e tere ai te toki i whakakoi i te mata o te toki e tuhi ana e rapa ana i te mata o Hinetuahoanga ….. i a ha ha …!!!

Waitetī  2A1B2B2 Trust with support of Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Te Arawa Lakes Trust are excited to invite hapū and community to a planting day to begin the restoration of Reporepo a Ngatamahine (the wetland of Ngatamahine) in the Waitetī area.

Ngatamahine is a special place for whānau, hapū and community to strengthen bonds to the whenua. As our land and water improve, so do we!

Come and celebrate the restoration of our wetland and creating positive change for our community and whenua. All welcome! This is an event for the whole whānau. Below is an outline for the day but feel free to drop in as you can!

This is a FREE community event but please RSVP so we have an idea of numbers. Ngā mihi!

Please Bring:

• gumboots or outdoor footwear
• A spade if you have one
• Water bottle (with enough water for the day- we have a limited supply)
• Wet Weather clothing

Rautaki/ Day Plan:

• 8:30 am - Karakia on sight & Briefing
• 12:45 pm - Kai Hakari ki Waitetī Marae
• 1:30 pm - Hoki ki te mahi -Return To Planting
• 4:00 pm Kua mutu mō te rā - finished for the day .

***please note that planting and kai at the marae will continue on Sunday the 6th also - if you want to join for a second day or attend on the Sunday only NAU MAI!!!

DIRECTIONS:

The wetland and planting sight sits at the top of the Waitetī 2A1B2B2 Trust land between Hamurana and Leonard road.

Access the property from Leonard Road - there is only one fence entry - you will see us!
