Event description

NIBS and LASNET are excited to present Camilo's Trail (El Rastro de Camilo)!

In 1965, Father Camilo Torres, a prestigious Colombian Catholic priest born and raised in a bourgeois household, shocks his nation when he decides to join the ELN, an emerging leftist guerrilla group. But only a few months later, he dies in combat and his body is hidden by the Army. 50 years later, filmmaker Diego Briceño finds a rare filmed interview with the priest shot just a few days before joining the movement and decides to uncover the forgotten story of this controversial figure. The journey brings him close to solving the mystery of the whereabouts of the priest's remains against the backdrop of a country engaged in difficult peace talks to end its long and bloody armed conflict. By piecing together the memories of this period of recent history, we realize the significance of Father Camilo's radical interpretation of the Gospels for revolutionaries and christians alike, both in Colombia and the rest of Latin America.

Accessibility: NIBS is only accessible by a flight of stairs into the basement.
